Weight Loss, part 1.5

Now sure, you may be the one that pushes yourself to the limit. Let me ask you this, is it working? Now again, not everyone, but a lot of people I have trained and still train have this great way of telling me when they are done, “As if I truly cared.” Here is the thing, if everyday you workout, you do the same thing, the same weight, reps, exercises. Does it get any easier or harder? Is that truly a limit? Something I love saying to everyone that tells me “I have never looked the way I wanted.” To get somewhere that you have never been, you have to do something that you have never done. I used to weigh 225lbs. In 4 months I lost it and went to 150lbs. I did something that I had never done before. I cut out all of the sugar, and soda, and fast foods. BAMM Cold Turkey, just like that. WOW…it SUCKED!!! But was it worth it? Can I get and AMEN! I knew what my problem was and I cut it out of my life. Now yes, I still drink and eat fattening things now, it is easier to maintain than it is to change. But everyone has it in them to do it. If you don’t think you do or you are not sure you are strong enough to do what it takes. I have two words for you…SHUT UP! That goes back to the mental part I was talking about. Change that attitude and you can do anything. Just don’t give up.
Now there are a lot…A LOT, of things to talk about when it comes to the subject of “weight loss”. No, I am not done yet, and yes I know that I left a bunch out. That stuff was left out for a reason. Reason being that there is way too much to talk about for just one posting. For now, I leave you with this, I would like to talk about diets next. So I am going to do more research on them and talk with those I know that know more than me. Personally, I think that the only diet anyone should go on is a “no junk food diet”. If you haven’t done that yet, try it. You will have more energy than you will know what to do with. But I won’t go there just yet. Taking baby steps.

Got some info? An idea? A thought swelling in that head of yours? Drop me a line.

Weight Loss, part 1

Let’s scratch the surface on weight loss. Lots of people have lots of ideas and thoughts on this subject and here in America it is one of the top situations people face. Now, I am no doctor, but I have been a personal trainer in two of the national chains. I see these places as being the extremes on both sides of the health industry. I have spoken with many personal trainers, marathon runners, pro-weight lifters, doctors, and health specialists. One thing that I have gotten from every one of them was that health is in a huge way mental. Watch a guy workout, many of them are doing just that. One of the reasons that men lose faster than women mostly do, they are not worried about everyone else or how their day went. Many women I have trained can’t shut their minds off enough. Always worried, stressed or thinking badly about themselves. A bunch of people that don’t “lose weight” also give up. I am not saying everyone, so don’t sit there saying “BananaPhone, that isn’t me. I push myself to the limit.” But if you are the person that gives up…stop it! Get off your perfectly-formed-to-your-butt couch, and get moving. Get happy, love yourself, do something! Being sad makes you lazy. Find your drive. And no more gorging yourself with nasty “comfort food”. That goes for men and women both. No more worshiping the great, all mighty greese soaked tater chips. Yes, I said “tater”.

Too Much of a Good Thing

So let’s start at the beginning. The beginning being when I found out that my favorite food and drink came with a price. The price of my ability to not cry, stand up, or breathe. You see, I was a victim. Addicted to dairy of all types. milk, chocolate, and cheese. Oh! I so love cheese. I don’t know why I did it, but one day I started on a huge dairy binge. Yep, everything I had had to have 3 main ingredients. Breakfast was loaded with cheese, lunch – cheese, dinner was cheese cheesy cheese. Oh, and let’s not forget the gallons of milk. Now, let’s add my all time favorite thing. The thing that if you told me that if I had it again I would die, I would be okay with death. Chocolate! I am the male version of a pregnant woman when it comes to the great, heavenly taste of chocolate.
I must admit, it was great. Loved every minute of it. Until one day, I kinda had this pain. But not any pain I have ever felt before. I was walking across the living room floor when it hit me like a train. In mid step I made myself into a ball and hit the floor. The pain was so bad that even crying for help, let alone crying at all, was impossible. If you couldn’t tell by now, I had been thoroughly introduced first hand to the wonderful world of kidney stones. Three to be exact. I was told that because I waited 2 weeks to go to the doctor for it, I had probably passed 2 already, all by myself. Yay me.
Do I still love dairy…You bet your donkey I do! Let’s just say that I drink a lot of water now a days. And that is how I found out that too much of a good thing…can put a man into labor.

They Attack!!!

Posted: August 24, 2010 in Random Thoughts

So, I’d like to take a minuet to rant about mosquitos. They bite, the bites itch. Did you know that by dabbing a bit of toothpaste on a bite & then covering that with a band-aid you can not only make the itching stop, but you can also make the bite heal a LOT faster. I didn’t know this until recently when I was attacked & eaten alive. Now I get to walk around the house covered in bandages & sticky from toothpaste, but I’m not itchy anymore.
The only ones that bite are the females. They can tell your blood type by your breath. But you can keep them away far more effectively by smoking cigarettes than by a citronella candle. Mosquitos are bastards.

BananaPhone’s World

So I am sitting here, bored again. I’m stuck at home, dealing with life as it comes. My energy comes and goes while I drudge through. So I am standing in the kitchen when the next one hits, and Banana Phone is born. I was eating a banana, my phone rang, so I answer my text message while singing about the Banana Phone. My cats now think I am weird, but I don’t really care.
